TOTAL PERFORMANCE DIESEL ADOPTS THE GOVERMENT'S B30 PROGRAM
To lessen dependence on fuel imports, the government of Indonesia recently launched biodiesel 30 (“B30”) program. Leading this initiative is the Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. Under this program, B30 is applied to all diesel products in the Indonesian market.
PT Total Oil Indonesia fully supports this decision. Accordingly, the Total Performance Diesel is now sold as B30 fuel.
The B30 mark essentially points to the 30% content of biofuel made of fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) mixed with 70% of fossil-based diesel fuel. Considered as a type of renewable energy, in Indonesia FAME is derived from crude palm oil (CPO). However, there are other bio sources of FAME, such as soy, sunflower, corn, jatropha, and other types of oil seeds.
To assess product compatibility, the Energy Ministry has performed a test on B30 fuel and reported desirable outcomes of combustion level as well as gas emission. Nation-wide availability of B30 fuel is expected to bring favourable environmental effects.
However, there is caution of possible clog of fuel filter. Total advises all diesel vehicle owners to perform regular engine check and maintenance as per manufacturer’s recommendation and pay attention specially to schedules of oil and spare part replacement.
As of today, B30 Diesel Fuel is available in all Total Service Stations, following the government’s program that started effectively in January 2020. Click on the link to see your nearest Total Service Station https://www.id.total.com/en/service-station/station-locator
